David Wassell is the Rail Operations Manager for Bowen Rail Company, and has over 35-years’ experience in rail and transport logistics.
David began his career as a fitter and turner at the Rockhampton Railway workshops, before taking on senior and management roles in engineering design, asset management and rail operations.
Prior to joining Bowen Rail Company, David held the position of National Supply Chain Development Manager, at ASCIANO. David has successfully led and delivered major business development and business transformation projects for tier 1 transport and logistics majors ASCIANO, Pacific National and Aurizon. David holds tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering, frontline management and bulk freight systems.
Rail Safety and Accreditation Manager
Clifford Sheppard is the Rail Safety and Accreditation Manger for Bowen Rail Company.
Clifford has over 35 years’ experience in the rail industry. He began his career as a Rail Number-taker in Rockhampton, before moving into Rail Safety and senior safety management roles.
He comes to Bowen Rail Company from Abbot Point Operations. Prior to this he held diverse and senior management positions within the heavy haul industry including Manager – Compliance Accreditation and Risk (Coal South) at Aurizon, and Senior Rail Process Improvement Officer at BHP Billiton Port Headland, as well as Queensland Rail Safety Manager at Pacific National Queensland. Clifford has received numerous awards for his commitment to health and safety, including three high commendations while at Pacific National.
Clay Hack is the Asset Manager for Bowen Rail Company, and has over 39 years’ experience working in rail rolling stock.
Clay began his career as a mechanical engineer with Queensland Rail before moving into senior management positions in design, procurement, commissioning, accreditation and operation of railway rolling stock and locomotive assets.
Prior to joining Bowen Rail Company, Clay held diverse and senior positions with a number of global organisations including Product Engineering Lead and Technical Manager at Progress Rail, Technical and Commissioning Manager at China Southern Rail, and Rolling stock Engineering Manager at Fortescue Metals Group. Clay holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BEng) with Honours, from Central Queensland University.
Maintenance Planning Superintendent
Amy Finnis is the Maintenance Planning Superintendent at the Bowen Rail Company.
With over 12 years’ experience in asset maintenance, Amy began working in property management for BHP in 2007, from there she held diverse positions at several organisations in the resources and rail sector.
Prior to joining Bowen Rail Company, Amy held various management positions at Fortescue Metals Group Rail including Senior Planner for Rail Maintenance and Planning, and Senior Long Term Planner. Amy has tertiary qualifications in Maintenance Management and Business Administration.
Kimberley Gregory is the Office Administrator for Bowen Rail Company.
Kimberley has previously worked in office administration, human resource management and financial business support functions across the banking, local and state government sectors, before moving into her role at Bowen Rail Company.
With qualifications in Local Government Administration, Workplace Health & Safety and Leadership and Management, Kimberley has supported major infrastructure projects with the Townsville City Council and most recently managed the business services and administration/financial functions for the Bowen State School.
Kimberley is new to the rail sector and is excited to be part of the Bowen Rail team delivering a safe and superior rail operating system, providing secure employment opportunities to Bowen locals and driving innovative connections globally and locally.
